Obviously, their importance is huge in strength based activities such as weightlifting and powerlifting, but they also play a key role in endurance based sports such as marathon running, long distance swimming, cycling and the like.

For the average athlete, a healthy well balanced diet will provide an adequate amount of protein to maintain and build some muscle mass and strength. However, if you are looking to further improve your performance, or build muscle strength and mass to a greater degree, then supplementing your diet may be extremely beneficial.

Protein based supplements can be very effective at building muscle mass, strength and powerful performance. Additionally, supplements such as creatine, which naturally occurs in the body, increases muscle’s energy efficiency, which in turn improves training intensity and recovery, enabling athletes to build muscle and strength at a greater rate than normal. This improvement in muscle and strength can help achieve optimum performance levels in a wide range of sports.
